Established in 5 July 1995 as Adventures for Kids, A Kid Again is a non-profit corporation based in Columbus, Ohio. Since its inception, the organization provides kids with life-threatening diseases and their immediate families with unique opportunities for quality time. The children and their nearest of kin spend time together in destination events and fun-filled group activities outside of the sterile confines of healthcare facilities.

For the first two years of its operations, A Kid Again was run only by volunteers. Nowadays, the organization has a full complement of employees, volunteers and board members – truly, strong proof that the organization will continue to foster happiness, hope and healing for kids with life-threatening diseases and their families. Most, if not all, of its beneficiaries attest that, indeed, the activities and adventures provided by the organization has helped in the restoration of a sense of normalcy and control amidst the challenges of diseases.

Through the years, A Kid Again has contributed to making thousands of kids become kids again despite their life-threatening diseases. In February 2008, the organization expanded its operations by establishing the Greater Cleveland Chapter and by providing its services to children from other states including Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, and West Virginia. In January 2009, the organization officially changed its name from Adventures for Wish Kids to A Kid Again.

The non-profit organization has strengthened its programs by accepting more children and their families into the adventures and activities. As such, these contribute to the improvement of the well-being of everybody affected by the challenges associated with life-threatening diseases. The approach benefits both the affected children and the members of their primary support network, such as their parents, guardians and siblings.

A Kid Again, furthermore, goes beyond the provision of adventures and activities. Affected children and their families are also provided with comprehensive, practical and ongoing support to help them cope with the challenges of day-to-day living with the life-threatening diseases.
