Founded in 1997 by David Stables, the African Children’s Educational Trust (A-CET) aims to develop Africa by providing their youth with a means to education. The A-CET Board of Directors recognizes the lack of educational opportunities for Africa’s youth and works to provide them these opportunities by arranging for suitable donors for the Trust. A-CET is a charitable institution that works directly with a non-government organization in Ethiopia, the Ethiopia Youth Education Support, to carry their mission of providing Ethiopia’s children with quality education.

A-CET does not only assist African youth by providing scholarships. The organization also gives assistance to help them find suitable jobs or for them to pursue higher education. A-CET offers scholarships to Ethiopians under the age of 35 who want to continue their studies in an accredited educational institution. Besides ensuring financial support, the Trust provides also for their other needs including books, clothing, and transportation.

With Ethiopia as their main focus of operations, A-CET has its headquarters in the United Kingdom. Since its inception until the year 2012, the Trust has been able to upgrade or build nine schools in the country that serves over 5,000 children.

The Trust’s operations in the UK are limited to administrative duties. Their founding Chairman and CEO, David Stables, works from his home office to organize events for the Trust. He spends almost half of any given year in Ethiopia monitoring the progress of the program and the children that they assist.

Although the Trust works with African authorities, they strictly remain apolitical. It is their view that they can optimize their operations by steering clear from any political involvement and working within the boundaries set by the law.

A-CET has proven their dedication to developing Ethiopia through education over the years. The Trust continuously requires financial support to succeed in their mission.
