HIV/AIDS is one of the modern society’s major concerns. The prevalence of this virus in the society and the impact it has in communities are mainly due to the lack of awareness. Thus, the AIDS Fund works with communities and local authorities in Philadelphia to increase public awareness about HIV/AIDS.

AIDS Fund is a non-profit charitable organization established in 1989. The organization was founded when members of the local gay and lesbian center organized a Walk-A-Thon in 1987 which was able to collect over $30,000 in contributions. This led to the establishment of the AIDS Fund and since then, the organization has been working hard to increase public awareness on HIV/AIDS and the impact it has in the community as a whole.

AIDS Fund believes that the fight against HIV/AIDS can be won by increasing public awareness and urging the community to come together in the fight. Throughout the year, the organization holds several events to promote public awareness including the annual Walk-A-Thon. The AIDS Funds also raises contributions through the GayBIngo program and other smaller events.
