Although
gender inequality isn’t as prevalent now as compared to the years when it was extensive
in most societies, it still finds its way among school settings and the
workplace. However, most women of today already know their place in the society,
which is alongside every other person who has the opportunity to excel in a
given field, regardless of gender. In this respect, Girls Inc. deserves due
recognition for celebrating girlhood
and seeing to it that girls will live up to be anything but settlers in terms
of personal growth.
Common
Sense media’s review
of the organization cites that the overall message that Girls Inc. is carrying
over is “refreshing and empowering.” With the goals of the org, girls will
learn to appreciate the value of their growing years as an essential stepping
stone for their future careers.
Girls
Inc’s entry to the pool of non-profit organizations brings us back to the year
1864. However, it was only in the year 1945 when it gained national
recognition. According to their site,
the organization primarily “responds to the changing needs of girls and their
communities.” The response comes in the form of advocacies and programs that
are grounded on research backed data.
Apart from
encouraging the girls to realize that they do have potentials waiting to be
developed, they are also taught to assert their rights so that their voices
could be heard. As this method progresses through time, we can certainly expect
a nation of thinkers and leaders who are not held down by issues on gender.
Through
Girls Inc’s sponsorship of the education of national scholars, girls who are
part of the organization will have access to employment opportunities to fit
their skills and talent. Hopefully, this will make them more productive and
satisfied with their achievements in life.
