The name of this charitable organization is as simple as the concept that honed it. However, the fulfillment of its mission and vision is not as plain or meek. For Scott Harrison who saw charity as the opportunity to use one's power and position to affect the lives of others for the better, establishing a charity, which main concern is to address the rising issue of water shortage, is one of the most practical ways to enhance human life globally.

In 2004, Scott Harrison left the streets of New York City to set off to West Africa. In his search for spiritual redemption after spending years as a promoter of nightclubs and fashion events, he desperately looked for the answer to the question, what would his life be if lived oppositely?

He left the arrogant and selfish living and signed up as a volunteer for a floating hospital. As a volunteer, he met patients who taught him the meaning of courage to survive. And this led him to wanting to be able to do something more, and he chose water to be his charity's focus.

Why water? Water composes most of this earth. However, clean drinking water seems to be so elusive for most nations that are lagging behind economically. It is even considered as the single constraint that keeps a nation from expanding and growing. And sadly, according to statistics, one in nine people in this world does not have access to basic needs including clean drinking water. About 800 million people today live on unsafe and unclean water to survive. Charity:Water aims to be able to help those 800 million by starting with communities in the poorest of countries in the world.

As of late, Scott Harrison and the rest of Charity:Water are inviting volunteers and sponsors who can help them propagate awareness, implement their activities, and fund their programs.
