Child abduction has negative impact on both the child and
his/her family and, in consequence, on society. Child Find of America, Inc.,
founded in 1980 by Gloria Yerkovich after the abduction of her child, works
toward the prevention and resolution of child abduction cases in the United
States. Indeed, the national non-profit organization wants to reunite - or at
least, to assist in reuniting - abducted children with their concerned
families, thus, contributing to societal welfare.
Child Find has made significant strides in its work although
it must also be said that much work still needs to be done in light of the
increased prevalence of child abduction. The organization has played and
continues to play a significant role in the formulation and implementation of
laws making child abduction a crime; in the creation of a national
clearinghouse for cases; and in the commemoration of My 25 as National Missing
Children's Day, among others.
The organization is also one the best organizations for
donations, thanks to its effective programming and sound fiscal management.
