Embracing the motto of “Leave No Child Behind”, Children’s Defense Fund has been championing their advocacies of ensuring a level playing field for all children. It was Marian Wright Edelman, who founded this charitable organization in 1973.

The organization today is registered as an American child advocacy and research group. Children’s Defense Fund (CDF) strongly believes that improving the lives of these children will also change everyone’s life.  The founding of the organization is rooted in the Civil Rights Movement and fought for social and economic justice for everyone. Education and healthcare are two of the main focuses of group and they have worked their way in providing affordable and comprehensive health and mental health coverage for all children and pregnant mothers.

As a charitable organization, CDF doesn’t take any funding from the government and relies on the support provided by various foundations and corporate grants. There are also numerous individuals who donate their time and money to the cause of the group.
