In the United States, some parents struggle
to give their children clothes and toys while other parents try to figure out
where to store all the clothes and toys their kids have. Most of us would see this and just roll our
eyes. Lynn Margherio saw that her
nephews and nieces had too many clothes and saw an opportunity to make a change;
she saw an opportunity to help the underprivileged kids in her hometown in Boston. Thus Cradles
to Crayons
(“C2C”) was born. The organization,
which supplies clothes, toys, and educational supplies to 87,000 children, is
making life a little better for those kids.
Furthermore, with awards from both public and private institutions, it
is clear that C2C is recognized for making a difference.
Along with Boston, the charity now has an
active chapter in Philadelphia where there are 130,000 children living in
poverty. In both communities, it works
as a grassroots organization that gets local people involved in gathering
supplies for the children. The goal of
the Cradles to Crayons is to ensure that none of these children in any of their
cities will go without these basic needs fulfilled. Thanks to C2C, these at-risk children have
one less issue to deal with in their lives.
