Established in 1972 as Delta Corporation, Ocean Conservancy is a non-profit environmental advocacy group with its headquarters in Washington D.C., United States. It is dedicated to providing expert assistance in the formulation of ocean policy at the state and federal government levels. Its thrust lies in ensuring that the policies are based on peer-reviewed science and technology.

Then and now, Ocean Conservancy works toward the promotion of healthy, diverse and vibrant ocean ecosystems; the opposition of practices threatening both marine and human life; and the protection of special marine habitats, among others. The men and women behind the organization, including its volunteer board of directors, also work toward the reduction of human impact on marine ecosystems as well as in the effective management of the United States’ marine resources.

Donors to Ocean Conservancy have the assurance of their donations being used for their intended purposes. The tax-exempt organization meets BBB’s 20 Standards for Charity Accountability, among other accountability measures.
