Family Care International
(FCI), an international non-profit organization, paid attention to an issue
that many others have neglected - maternal health. Its full complement of
qualified healthcare professionals provide for dedicated maternal health
services specifically in prenatal and childbirth services, a dedication that
has saved and continues to save lives in 18 countries across Africa, the
Caribbean, and Latin America.
Because the mother is the
traditional primary caregiver of children in these countries, the work of FCI
in protecting and promoting maternal health also means the protection and
promotion of the rights of children and of families.
The world is taking notice, too.
FCI has garnered recognition for its work in collaborative, innovative and
effective delivery of maternal health services. It was the recipient of the
2008 United Nations Population Award and the 2013 MacArthur Award for Creative
and Effective Institutions, among other awards.
For donors, FCI is one of the
best charities to donate your money for a good cause. It was, after all,
granted the distinction of being the Top-rated Charity award by the American
Institute of Philanthropy.
