Sight - it is arguably the most
important of the five senses yet nearly 300 million people worldwide have
visual impairments in varying degrees. Yet 80% of all types of visual
impairment can be prevented and cured by blindness prevention strategies
including cataract surgery.
This is where the Fred Hollows
Foundation (FHF) comes in to enable people to keep or regain their sense of
sight. In the process, FHF enables their beneficiaries to regain control of
their lives and to give them hope in life. Indeed, accessible and adequate eye
care services to the poorest of the poor can make a difference in their lives.
Your donations to FHF will
certainly be made to a good cause. The foundation works in over 19 of the
poorest countries in the world in Asia and Africa. You will also be donating to
the foundation's advocacy of addressing the rights of the Aboriginal people in
Australia.
