Homes for Our Troops is a national non-profit organization started in 2004 with the aim of building specially adapted homes for more than 1,700 service members across the country who have returned from duty with life-altering injuries after 9/11. The organization's veterans are among the most severely injured in the nation, with varying levels of traumatic brain injury and paralysis and missing limbs. Homes for Our Troops assists veterans and their families by not only raising money for their homes but providing building materials as well and professional labor for construction. All homes from the organization are designed to provide optimum freedom of movement and the ability to live as independently as possible. All homes are also made available to Homes for Our Troops veterans at no cost.

As of May 1, 2014, Homes for Our Troops has built 165 homes across the country, with 40 veterans currently on the organization's active project list.
