IOCC or the International Orthodox Christian Charities is a non-profit, charitable organization that seeks to offer emergency relief and facilitate development programs for the benefit of those in need in all parts of the world. They perform their tasks without discrimination and work to strengthen the ability of the Orthodox Church to respond to its beneficiaries.

The International Orthodox Christian Charities, Inc. was established in March 1992 in response to the need expressed by some of the members of the Orthodox Christian community. It serves as the Assembly of Canonical Orthodox Bishops of North and Central America’s official international humanitarian organization. Its Board of Directors is made up of the Orthodox Christian clergy and laity who volunteered and were approved by the Assembly. The Board governs the organizations’ policies and operations, overseeing stewardship of IOCC’s resources.

IOCC envisions that by God’s grace, they will be able to respond to the needs of those who require their assistance and help them improve their lives in general. They are also committed to assisting communities for them to have the means to live with hope, dignity, and respect.

IOCC’s professional staff is managed by the Executive Director. They answer to the Board of Directors and work to identify the beneficiaries’ needs, manage operations, develop plans, and ensure accountability. They also manage overseas operations from the organization’s headquarters based in Baltimore, Maryland. They also track grants, facilitate and monitor programs in order for them to promote greater awareness and provide ample support for the organization.

With its mission to provide generous assistance to the poor, whether as response to emergencies or initiating long-term socio-economic development programs, the IOCC follows a fundamental policy that is to develop sustainable processes and solutions. Furthermore, to enable the diversification of its resource base, the organization funds and co-funds programs and activities by using its own resources and seeking matching grants. IOCC also maintains relationships with other organizations that share its humanitarian objectives in order to better disseminate its noble missions.
