Many charitable institutions prioritize the welfare of children. One of the most effective and successful ones is the Kids First Fund. Unlike most charities that focus on fighting poverty and its effects on children, Kids First Fund helps abandoned and abused children. Children who have experienced abuse can find the protection that they long for through the Fund. Furthermore, one of their goals is to empower young adults to become better individuals in the future, enriched with nothing but positivity.

The mission of Kids First Fund does not end in salvaging children from direct abuse. They also facilitate activities and other various initiatives that are designed to strengthen families and to build awareness regarding child abuse among communities. They support programs which main objective is to educate children about welfare professionals and officials such as the police, law officers including judges and prosecutors, and social workers. Kids First Fund also offers direct assistance to centers and smaller organizations that provide care for abused kids.

Since its establishment, Kids First Fund has been facilitating projects in different countries all over the world. Currently, they provide support for abused and abandoned children in Eastern European countries including Moldova and Latvia. They implement their projects through their partners based in the respective countries where they operate. These partners may be social service agencies and/or local government units.

In all of their initiatives, the key component is professional education. They continually aim to create wider and greater knowledge and awareness on the subject of child abuse -- its causes and roots, its effects on children, how to prevent and avoid it, and how to help the abused children in general.

For their future initiatives, Kids First Fund aims at addressing domestic violence through proper training and establishing shelter services. Latvia, for instance, is in great need for overnight shelters that will provide care for abused mothers and children. Indeed, charities such as the Kids First Fund has a long way to go, until everyone in this world understands the negative effects of child and domestic abuse to the individuals and communities involved.
