When faced with war, poverty, and extreme suffering, it’s not
uncommon to find that many people have lost hope. On the other hand, there are
a rare few who don’t give up and strive for better. One of these exceptional
people is Kimmie Weeks.
Weeks was born in 1981 in Liberia. The First Liberian Civil War
erupted in the country ten years later. As a child, Weeks was forced to face
the harsh realities of war – something a child should be shielded from. Even at
his young age, he did everything he could to help his countrymen – especially
children through community initiatives with the help of other children who
wanted a better future. He continued his efforts and did everything he could to
help the children of Liberia. He partnered up with humanitarian organizations
to expose the presence of child soldiers in his country and to help
rehabilitate these children.
Up to this day, Kimmie Weeks still aims to help children, not just
in Liberia, but all over the world as well. He has founded many organizations
to help children from impoverished and war-stricken countries such as Youth in Action, Voice
of the Future, and many others.
