The LULAC National Educational Service Centers, Inc. (LNESC) is the educational arm of the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC). It aims to provide students within the country’s vast Hispanic community with high standard educational opportunities in order to prepare them to become productive members of society.

The LNESC was founded in 1973 after the successful implementation of one of LULAC’s programs that began in 1968. That program provided financial aid and help with college admissions to deserving students within the Hispanic community in San Francisco. The founding of LNESC aimed to take that local program nationwide. As a separate entity from its mother organization, the LNESC had its own programs – the LULAC National Scholarship Fund (LNSF) was established in 1975. The LNSF is in charge of soliciting funds and sponsorships from large corporation in order to provide scholarships to Hispanic youth. In 1976, the LNESC took it one step further and involved local LULAC councils in this endeavor. These councils raise funds and their partner corporation matches the money they are able to raise. Today, this program is participated in by roughly 60 local LULAC councils and more than 25 partner corporations.

The services offered by the LNESC are not limited to scholarships. Aside from college access, they also have programs that focus on health and wellness, STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) programs, literacy, and leadership. Their Talent Search program aims to identify promising youngsters in disadvantaged neighborhoods who have the potential to excel in higher education. These selected youth are given financial, academic, and career counseling and are encouraged to stay in school and pursue a college degree in science and technology after they graduate from high school. Also, part of their health and wellness focus, they have also established the More than a Dream program which aims to educate young people about teen pregnancy and provide developmentally appropriate interventions.
