There is always value in honoring the elderly and this has been the advocate of Methodist Homes, a charitable institution that addresses the needs of older people. This charitable organization is considered one of the largest groups in the United Kingdom and was founded in 1943 by the members of the Methodist Church.

Supporting older people throughout Britain, this group not only provides shelter and accommodation but also gives support services and care. This organization is also responsible for the publication called Heart & Soul. There are about 90 care homes that they run that mostly serve people with dementia. These homes are both residential and nursing in nature. Methodist Homes’ mission is “to improve the quality of life of older people, inspired by Christian concern.”

There are about 16,000 people who are able to benefit from the services provided by the group. Roughly 5,000 of this population are suffering from dementia and are receiving special nursing care from their care homes. 2,000 are living in their purpose-built apartments and are provided with social and leisure facilities and flexible care. While the rest of the population is living independently in their own homes while receiving assistance and support from the organization’s Live at Home schemes.

Headquartered in Derby, in the East Midland region of England, Methodist Homes rely on the assistance provided by their 4,000 volunteers and 7,000 staff. Through donations, they are able to maintain and continue providing quality care, housing and support services for the elderly across the country.

This organization is special in the sense that it does not just focus on physical health, but also attends to the spiritual needs of every individual that enters their doors. They provide meaning to the lives of these individuals by providing them equal opportunities in gaining peace and fulfillment from within.
