Who would have thought that moustaches can be used for noble advocacies? But such is the case with Movember Foundation, a non-profit foundation that conducts an annual event designed to raise awareness of issues related to men's health including prostate cancer.

Why Movember? It is a portmanteau of "mo", the Australian-English slang for moustache, and "November", the month when the foundation conducts its ever-growing annual charity event. It also helps that Movember sounds like "move member" as a way of encouraging its members and donors to make meaningful movement (i.e., actions and activities) toward men's health issues.

The Movember Foundation's main goal - change the face of men's health - is worth supporting by both men and women, with and without a moustache. Men's health issues, after all, affect all cohorts so supporting related advocacies will redound to the benefit of the entire society.

Via its annual Movember campaign, the foundation works toward the achievement of concrete results. These include men growing moustaches and their communities supporting them in the interest of promoting an innovative and engaging campaign, which fund men's health programs, create conversations about health risks faced by men, and encourage men to take action on their health.

Mo Bros, as the foundation calls men, are encouraged to get actively involved in their health. The foundation provides various services designed to increase the early detection and effective treatment of cancers affecting men, thus, reducing the number of preventable globes. The Mo Bros are encouraged to undergo regular testing, educate themselves about cancer, and adopt healthy lifestyle, habits.

For its excellent track record, the Movember Foundation has been recognized as one of the world's top 100 non-government organizations by Global Journal (2012). The foundation appears to be on the right track - and to think that it moves via a "hairy track".
