Even with the entry of a new
generation of basketball players, the name Michael “His Airness” Jordan remains
as the game’s greatest of all time. His feats in basketball are unparalleled: he won six NBA
championships when he played with the Chicago Bulls during the 1990s; he is a
six-time NBA Finals Most Valuable Player (MVP) awardee; he is among the best in
scoring; and he is a five-time league MVP.
But Jordan’s eyes are not just fast on
the ball but also to helping the less fortunate.
For several years, Michael Jordan has
annually hosted an invitational celebrity golf tournament to raise funds for
charity. Last April, 2011, the Annual Michael
Jordan Celebrity Invitational opened for the first time in Las Vegas. The
glitter of Jordan and his annual four-day charity tournament have attracted the
world’s greatest sports and entertainment stars for a worthy cause.
Jordan’s charity work is for the
benefit of the Make-A-Wish
Foundation, The James R. Jordan Foundation, Cats Care and the Nevada
Cancer Institute. With all his charitable tasks, Jordan’s legend extends way beyond the sports
arena.
