In most developing countries, the
situation of reproductive health care and awareness is dismal. Governments seem
to give little care about the welfare of women and children, neglecting the
importance of maternal health.
Since 1957, Pathfinder
International has
been advocating for access to quality reproductive health care. The
organization was established by Clarence Gamble, one of the leading figures in
family planning and maternal health. After 50 years, her vision is working its
way in over 60 developing countries, serving the most vulnerable group of
people in the worst living conditions.
Pathfinder International is involved
in multiple, core-specific advocacies. Among these is reproductive health
and family planning, HIV/AIDS awareness, safe motherhood, abortion and
post-abortion care, community-based work, partner support, and social change.
With highly-organized and systematic
programs, Pathfinder International brings family planning to the developing
world. Their work serves as an
inspiration to people who wish to educate and support disadvantaged women and
children all over the world.
