At
the call of duty, soldiers can never turn their backs on our country. They risk
their lives, as well as the happiness of their loved ones, in order to protect
the nation from those who wish to disrupt its peace. But when their courage and
strength is tested, who will support them?
Adopt a Platoon is one of the many
non-profit organizations that provide support to deployed American service men
and women. Their mission is to make sure that these brave soldiers’ efforts are
recognized back home, thousands of miles away from the battlefield. Some of their campaigns include The Soldiers’
Truck Stop, where deployed units can rest and regain their strength before
continuing on with the mission. Such
campaigns, albeit simple, bring soldiers a little closer to home.
In
2010, the founder of Adopt a Platoon, Ida Hagg, received the Freddy Fender
Humanitarian Award. Through the organization, civilians like you can also
do an act of kindness and be recognized for it.
Adopt
a Platoon has supported soldiers since 1998, and they invite you to do the
same.
