Operation USA Brings the American Brand of Compassion to the World

December 11, 2014

The United States of America may be many things to many people – the land of milk and honey, for example – but it is well-known to be one of the most compassionate countries in the world with billions of dollars poured into relief, rehabilitation and rescue programs worldwide. Operation USA reinforces the American brand of compassion for its fellowmen regardless of race, religion and gender by contributing to the American people’s combined efforts on the matter.

Established in 1979 as Operation California by Richard Walden and Llewellyn Werner, it changed its name to Operation USA for this purpose. Its first mission was to provide aid to the Cambodian refugees and Vietnamese boat people affected by violence in their countries.

Today, Operation USA has earned the recognition as one of the most results-effective, cost-efficient and client-responsive aid organizations in the world. Its citations include the Nobel Peace Prize, the President's Volunteer Action Award, and the Honeywell Hometown Hero Award from the Honeywell Corporation for CEO Richard M. Walden.
