Kids Wish Network: Helping Children in Need

Kids Wish Network is a 501(c)(3) organization that works to grant the wishes of children with life-threatening and serious medical conditions. Although subjected to criticisms and negative publicity several times including being accused of trademark infringement, inefficient fund raising procedures, and tax avoidance, it still continued to fulfill its mission and goals.

The non-profit organization was founded in 1997. It was originally known as Fulfill a Wish Foundation. The foundation was established by husband and wife Mark and Shelley Breiner together with Shelley’s mother Barbara Askin as an honor to Shelley’s father who in 1993 because of cancer. The name Kids Wish Network was adopted in 1998 as part of the agreement with Make-a-Wish Foundation who sued them for choosing an almost identical name. 

Kids Wish Network serves children between three and 18 years of age. It grants more than a hundred wishes every year. The organization operates worldwide but is headquartered in Holiday, Florida, United States.
