The Y (National Office): More Than a Century of Community

The Y is about the community – and it shows in over a century of its history and its active presence in over 10,000 neighborhoods across the United States. Today, it is the country’s largest non-profit organization dedicated to providing both individuals and communities with the opportunities to learn, survive and thrive even against great odds.

Indeed, such is its impact that The Y is often credited with changing the lives of individuals in need as well as in influencing social change especially in divisive issues. Its dedicated men and women work toward providing everybody with the valuable resources and strong support in becoming healthier, in being more confident and connected, and in feeling more secure in their future.

The Y has three focus areas, namely:

  • Youth development for nurturing the physical and mental potential of every child.
  • Healthy living for improving the citizens’ health, welfare and well-being.
