Rachel’s Network is a nonprofit organization founded in honor of Rachel Carson whose book, Silent Spring, highlighted that we are part of the web of nature and that caring for the environment also means looking out for ourselves.  It builds partnerships among women who are committed to environmental conservation, health and women’s empowerment.  It started with 17 founding members in 1999, now the number of members nears a hundred.  To strengthen their alliance, Rachel’s Network conducts different programs such as the Speakers Series where luncheons and events are hosted for the members to get the chance discuss environmental issues with known practitioners and advocates in the field.  They also do this through teleconference calls, online communities and learning circles.  One of their goals is to make conservation a national agenda which the network lobbies through Connect to Congress where the members are educate participate in the legislative and political processes.
