In 1987, Paul Simon, a famous singer-songwriter, and Irwin Redlener, a medical doctor, co-founded the Children’s Health Fund (CHF) as an effective and efficient response to addressing the healthcare needs of homeless children. The non-profit organization began its mission with a single mobile clinic financed by Simon and designed by Karen, Redlener’s wife.

Today, CHF is a recognized national leader in the delivery of modern, effective and compassionate mobile-based healthcare services for children and their families belonging to the low-income and homeless brackets. It has 50 mobile medical units mobilized and 23 programs implemented – and counting because the organization works toward the expansion of its reach of influence and improvement of its programs.

CHF has a full range of children’s healthcare services including health education, preventative care, and management of chronic and acute illnesses. It either provides or coordinates with other providers in the delivery of healthcare services for oral and mental health as well as hospital and speciality care for children.
