Clean and potable drinking water is a necessity, but for people living in poverty stricken and underdeveloped countries, having water that’s safe to drink is more of a luxury. A group of Christians from Saint John, NB Canada heard about the plight of people in these countries and decided to do something about it. The Water Project was established in 2006 and has been working in partnership with in-country organizations in order work more efficiently. Since then, it has helped over 500 communities in poor countries get access to clean drinking water and proper sanitation facilities. Their mission doesn’t end at providing residents with a source of clean water. They also make sure to monitor each project site and ensure that community leaders work to maintain what they have started.

The people behind The Water Project see themselves as a Christian Non-Profit rather than a religious organization because their projects are not confined to Christian communities. Their mission is to provide access to clean water to those who need it the most, regardless of faith or ethnic background.
