The Y is about the community – and it shows in over a
century of its history and its active presence in over 10,000 neighborhoods
across the United States. Today, it is the country’s largest non-profit
organization dedicated to providing both individuals and communities with the
opportunities to learn, survive and thrive even against great odds.
Indeed, such is its impact that The Y is often credited with changing the lives
of individuals in need as well as in influencing social change especially in
divisive issues. Its dedicated men and women work toward providing everybody
with the valuable resources and strong support in becoming healthier, in being
more confident and connected, and in feeling more secure in their future.
The Y has three focus areas, namely:
- Youth development for nurturing the physical and
mental potential of every child.
- Healthy living for improving the citizens’
health, welfare and well-being.
- Social responsibility for giving back and
supporting the organization’s neighbors.
