Contrary
to its name, United Cerebral Palsy (UCP) does not
only advocate for people with cerebral palsy but also for people with other
physical and mental disabilities. The non-profit organization provides
education, advocacy and support services for their beneficiaries with the goal
of ensuring a life without limits for them. Its founders, board of directors and
staff members, even its donors and contributors, advocate independence,
productivity and inclusivity via full citizenship status for people with
disabilities.
Established
in 1949 as a small organization, UCP has since expanded its geographical reach
and political influence. Its strong affiliate network is well-known for its
large-scale, organization-based support services, which has helped and
continues to help affected individuals and their families to enjoy their lives
regardless of the odds. It is, nonetheless, moving forward into new directions
to keep up with the times, such as the use of social media and technological
innovation to advance its causes.
Every
dollar in donation to UCP will, indeed, go a long way toward a better life for
people with disabilities – and that’s sufficient reason to donate now.
